Jacqueline Schmidt, MSW, APSW
Jackie Schmidt brings nearly 30 years of professional experience serving the public.
Upon obtaining her bachelor’s degree in social work from University of Wisconsin-Madison, Jackie was employed as a counselor at a day treatment program for individuals who were recently released from prison or were facing an alternative to revocation. The program focused on substance abuse issues, cognitive thinking, employment, and independent living skills.
While earning her master’s degree in social work, Jackie was employed as a case manager at an outpatient mental health clinic where she worked with individuals with a variety of mental health issues.
Upon earning her master’s degree from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Jackie accepted a position as a Federal Probation Officer in the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Her duties included supervising pre-and post-conviction individuals, writing and preparing Federal Pre-sentence Reports, calculating the Sentencing Guidelines and completing bond reports. Jackie also acted as a mentor to new probation officers and was involved in training them in all aspects of the job. She was a member of the training committee that helped organize seminars, retreats and other training opportunities for probation officers.
In 2008, Jackie took her many years of experience in federal sentencing to the private sector and is self-employed as a mitigation specialist and sentencing consultant with a state-wide practice. She currently provides reports for both Federal and State Courts, including private and public defender cases. She is also a contract worker with Behavioral Consultants, Inc., as a regional jail specialist for the Jail Based Competency Restoration Program, which involves working with individuals who have a variety of mental health issues in the jail setting.
